Implementing and innovating a diversity and inclusion strategy has never been so important. The wide range of business and people benefits are widely reported and known, but businesses need to move from reactive to proactive and start making real change; let’s cut through statements of intent and make a difference. However slow and steady it may be. Let’s foster a purposeful workplace culture, and shift the dial from diversity to equality.
There are 14.1 million disabled people in the UK and 19% of working age adults are disabled (source: SCOPE). We all know by now that embracing and supporting diversity, including supporting disabled employees, can help organisations reach out to and attract staff from a wider talent pool, with potential new ways of thinking and problem solving emerging as a result. At our Diversity & Inclusion Virtual Conference, Louise showed us the importance of supporting disabled employees in our place of work.
