Partnerships Team Feature – Jon Claire

The IHR Partnerships Team is unique in so many ways, but what they all have in common is a passion for the recruitment industry. We aim to share more about the partnerships team at IHR so that you can learn more about us!

We’re excited to feature another new IHR Partnership team member, Jon Claire, with a few interesting questions. Don’t forget to connect with him on LinkedIn!

Tell us a little bit about yourself, starting with where you’re from?

Hey, I’m Jonathan – but you can call me Jon! I was born in South London before my family upped sticks when I was 13 because they wanted us to grow up by the sea!

Where do you live now?

I’m now living in Hastings, where I’ve more or less been since my teens. Once you live by the sea, it’s hard to leave!

What do you enjoy outside of work?

I’m a drummer, I used to play in some fairly questionable bands with interesting haircuts when I was younger, but a few of us decided to get into playing pop covers at weddings in 2013 and we’ve been rocking people’s nuptials ever since! I also play football “with the boys” a couple of nights a week, where I have channelled my inner Peter Crouch to great effect on the astroturf of Hastings for many years now! I also love Geocaching, and if you know what that is – please feel free to tell me about the best ones you’ve found!

How have you found working from home, since the pandemic?

I was working in recruitment during the pandemic, and single manning a busy office with rules changing every other week. Once lockdown ended, I decided to try for a hybrid role – and I’m loving it. I feel like it has definitely become the norm amongst everyone who I speak to now – and always leads to good talking points when you spot a cool picture on someone’s wall behind them, or they’re wearing a t-shirt of a band you love! It’s great not having to commute and using that time to get a headstart, or get a walk in to clear your head before you start the day.

What motivates you?

Networking, building relationships and keeping them strong. Whether that is personally, or professionally. Being a good friend, a good colleague and being professional (but also good humoured enough!) to consistently deliver a consultative, and understanding service is a huge part of what makes me who I am. I’m delighted to have a job where I get to do this on a daily basis!

What do you like about working in partnerships?

I’m still technically the new guy, but so far it is meeting amazing people with incredible platforms and services that all have a huge part to play in making the lives of our community of in-house recruiters easier. It makes for some great conversations, with loads of enthusiasm and great ideas bouncing around about how we can give the exact visibility they need to our awesome audience.

What are your favourite IHR events?

I’ve only managed a Conference so far, which was unbelievable. The round tables were such a great touch, and I immediately related to the recruiters when they were all sharing their same issues and realising, they were not alone – watching people networking, and sharing ideas and advice with each other is really special. I’ve heard great things about London Live and that’s just around the corner, so ask me the same question again in 2 months!

What are you most looking forward to in 2022 and 2023?

Partnering up with some forward thinking, inspirational people to engage with the IHR community. Meeting more people and hearing about amazing innovations that deserve their place in the everyday life of a recruiter, and doing my part to get them where they need to be through our events.

What has the rest of 2022 got in store?

As mentioned, I’m still the new guy and I’ve a lot to learn. I’m looking forward to being hands on at the upcoming events and learning the specific details that make IHR events so fantastic. I’ve also been speaking to some wonderful people and I’m hoping to welcome them into partnership with us before the quarter is out! The team at IHR have been amazing, making the transition into new venture really quite straightforward. Really looking forward to a busy few months for year end.
