Steve Norton

Head of Talent Acquisition, Aston Martin

Bio

Steve has had a zig-zag career, starting in aerospace engineering, then IT sales before stumbling into recruitment like a lot of people.

Following a 20 year career in global executive search and selling off his recruitment business in 2000, there followed a short period as a failed crime novelist, before starting his first role as a Head of Talent Acquisition in the Middle East.

In theory he hasn’t looked back since.

Steve has taken his executive search background and used it to drive direct sourcing TA functions, with other focus areas being candidate experience, high levels of service to internal stakeholders and candidates, and a desire to substantially improve diverse hiring.

Best day at work – interviewing, early careers’ assessment centres and managing internal talent.

Worst day at work – reporting, anything else with spreadsheets.

He is a strong believer that a lot of current TA operating models are not relevant, and that pro-activity is the key to delivering any hiring plan.

Almost 2 years at Aston Martin has brought him full circle back to engineering and manufacturing, in a globally iconic company and brand. Walking the line has never been so enjoyable.
