Head of Talent Development, Thatchers Cider

Bio

Established in 1904 by William John Thatcher, Thatchers has grown into one of the top cider-making businesses in the world. Now in their fourth generation of family cider makers, they’re exceptionally proud of their Somerset roots.

Emma is Head of Talent Development for Thatchers Cider. Thatchers is a family business with community values at the core of its ethos we knew we had lots of fantastic and passionate young people seeking opportunities, needing to find a way that engaged them into our business Emma created Thatchers Early Careers Programme. Since we started in 2017 our apprenticeship programme has grown significantly. We now have a range of apprenticeship academies that provide entry routes into the business for school and college leavers.

‘‘I am incredibly passionate about apprenticeships and the opportunities they bring to both young people and business. At Thatchers we had one specific objective – to create an industry leading programme that created apprenticeship roles, but also inspired and educated young people about the industry. Specifically, to effectively bridge the gap between education and employment. I am so proud of what our apprentices achieve everyday and how they are now helping us to promote these opportunities within schools and colleges.’’
