‘The Careers Site Re-invented: The Power of Direct Sourcing’ was an In-house Recruitment Network breakfast held in London, in June 2016 in partnership with 4MAT

This fantastic breakfast event was probably the fullest event we have ever seen! The room was brimming with people and there wasn’t a single sausage sandwich left by the end (sob!). ‘The Careers Site Re-invented: The Power of Direct Sourcing’ brought together a record number of in-house recruitment professionals for a morning dedicated to the careers site and how to maximise this extremely important recruitment tool. Our partners for the day 4MAT, are a digital marketing agency who specialise in recruitment marketing and website design. Having worked on a number a high profile careers sites, it’s safe to say that these guys can give a little bit of advice when it comes to the careers site. As always, it was an opportunity for like-minded peers to share key challenges they face where the careers site is concerned, as well as discuss areas where they’ve experienced success.

DavDavid Johnston imageid kicked off the morning’s discussions with an incredibly detailed look through the careers site. Focusing specifically on digital development, David chatted through the entire process and the similarities between recruitment marketing and marketing to consumers. Marketing your business to potential candidates is not dissimilar to the way that products are marketed to consumers in retail and with this in mind, you start to look at your online employer presence in a completely different light. In his presentation you will find a number of useful hints and tips, as well as live case studies to draw inspiration from. With his expertise across the entire recruitment spectrum, David’s knowledge and advice is without a doubt invaluable.

Jamie kicked off the final roundtable discussions with an engaging case study on npower – where they’ve come from careers site-wise and where they’re at now. In his presentation, Jamie discussed the challenges npower initially faced, challenges which are not unlike those of the in-house recruitment attendees on the day. He took us on a journey through the development and solution which ended in some pretty impressive results statistically. The perfect way to round off the morning’s presentations, the roundtables ended with an absolute bang of questions, queries and knowledge sharing.
