The IHR Partnerships Team is unique in so many ways, but what they all have in common is a passion for the recruitment industry. We truly appreciate that it is their special traits and personal stories that drive the success of our team. We aim to share more about the partnerships team at IHR so that you can learn more about us!
We’re excited to feature, Charlene Simpson, Partnerships Manager, with a quick-fire interview. She also included some fun photos that best represent her and to help give you a face to the name. Don’t forget to connect with her on LinkedIn!
Tell us a little bit about yourself, starting with your hometown?
I’m Essex through and through; although born in East London which I like to use sometimes! I live in a nice little spot towards the end of the Central Line which means I can enjoy City life easily as well as being near to Epping Forest for a slower pace!
What do you like about it?
I love how quiet it gets around here! I have a nature reserve nearby which is stunning but also the high street which is full of independent boutiques, cafes and restaurants. Everything’s on my doorstep for such a small town!
What do you enjoy outside of work?
I recently started my blog & online community which takes up a lot of my focus. This year I’ve also become quite a fan of the gym so now they’re back open, I’m in there as often as possible! I also love eating out at new places.
What motivates you?
I came from a very working-class background and grew up on a council estate; my aim has always been to keep improving mine and my families lives and ensure we have a good future!
Tell us about your blog, Millennial Me – Where did the idea come from?
It’s an idea I’ve had in various forms over the last few years however could never work out how to make it happen! It’s a lifestyle, mindset and personal development blog for women in their 20’s and 30’s looking for inspiration, motivation and realness! I like having full creative freedom of it and being able to implement the inspired action I get in the middle of the night!
What do you like about working in partnerships?
I love the people I get to meet and work with in our community! I’m blessed to work with some fab clients who have become friends and for me, coming from a Recruitment background, I’ve enjoyed learning more about the events world.
What are your favourite IHR events?
After being able to attend one earlier this year, I’d have to say our Recruitment Leaders Dinners! The conversations are so insightful, you get to really engage with everyone and of course, the amazing food and wine!
How have you found balance since isolation started and working from home?
I’ve really benefitted from lockdown as I feel I’ve got a much better work/life balance now. I can give work, my projects and my own self-care & development enough time and attention. Overall, I feel like I’m able to give more in general and manage my priorities better.
What are you most looking forward to in 2020?
What we’re able to create next! We’ve implemented some great things during lockdown so hopefully, there’s much more of that to come!
What do you hope to come in Q3
I really hope to see some positive movement in the market and get one step closer to some sort of normality, and hopefully signs of in-person events making a return!
