‘Inspiring Change Within Education Recruitment’ was an intimate speaker and round-table networking breakfast event for 30 management-level professionals responsible for recruitment within the education sector. A unique event for the In-house Recruitment Network, this event was largely attended by senior teachers, so it truly provided an accurate insight into the challenges faced by recruiters in the education sector, whose primary roles aren’t exclusively based around the acquisition of staff.
Throughout the course of the morning we heard from two specialist guest speakers who shared their insights to help inspire change within in-house recruitment delivery in education.

Special Guest speaker: Nicola Smith, HR Business Partner, Medway Council
Nicola currently works for Medway Council as a HR Business Partner and Specialist Consultant supporting Medway schools in attracting and retaining good and outstanding teachers to drive school improvement. She has worked in key positions across the private, public and voluntary sectors. After 20 years at Kent County Council she was then employed for 7 years as a chief executive in the charitable sector and is passionate about equality and diversity. During her career in local government, she has led local government initiatives focused on delivering outcomes in partnership.

Special Guest speaker: Adele D’Silva, Senior Client Partnership Manager, Jobsgopublic
Before joining Jobsgopublic, she spent 15 years developing and implementing recruitment strategies linked directly to school improvement. This included 11 years working at London Borough of Havering as part of the education HR department. During this time, D’Silva was also a lead advisor for Safer Recruitment, ensuring that education institutions’ recruitment processes were in line with government legislation and best practice. In her spare time Adele is a chair of governors for a federation of schools, all of whom recently improved their Ofsted rating.
