How to Attract Talent Across All Five Generations

We sat down with Modiara Kamps, who takes care of Employer Branding and EMEA Corporate Consumer Tech at Amazon for our recent podcast. We gained insights about some of the top strategies for engaging with candidates – even in today’s uncertain times.

We partnered with Indeed.co.uk to speak with some influential Talent Acquisition Teams, delving into some of the key challenges, opportunities and key trends to be aware of in 2020, specifically surrounding Talent Attraction, Retention, and Upskilling.

The current workforce consists of five different generations – this means that tailoring your talent attraction strategy can be challenging. Candidates of these different generations require a slightly different approach, but all is not as overwhelming as it seems. There are certain things which all generations in the workforce have in common. Having a strong employer brand, showcasing your values and highlighting what is unique about your company will supercharge talent attraction generally and help to spark interest in people of all ages. What this boils down to is having a clearly-defined sense of your own company’s identity, and ensuring that this resonates in your employer branding. Naturally, this will create a consistent and clear image of your brand that people will remember and gravitate towards.

Equally, you can tune in with the different consumer needs of your candidates. Using data-driven insights, you can ascertain what communication styles appeal most to certain groups as well as how best to target them. This focus on media consumption preferences will help to drive your talent attraction and enhance overall efficiency. The core message you are putting out stays the same; you simply need to alter the way you communicate it in order to ensure you are attracting talent from all areas and all different generations.
