Shifting to an Employer Led Market for Chartered Accountant Roles

In an ever-increasing competitive recruitment world, the role membership bodies play in sourcing specific, highly trained professionals can be huge as they are often used as the go-to place for organisations’ hiring needs. As a result, these membership bodies need to ensure their integrity and reliability is of the highest quality, something that ICAEW Chartered Accountants pride themselves in.

As COVID-19 continues to rage disparity across different sectors and companies hiring needs, most companies have seen slower, or in fact, no recruitment since the start of lockdown in March. This has meant the flip to an employer led market, with applications for roles increasing.  With fewer roles available, but more candidates on the market, now is a great time to find yourself having the pick of the bunch.  Job postings on ICAEW Jobs have been down by over 50% since the start of lockdown, but applications are at an above-average-high and have been for the last two months. The fact that recruitment activity is continuing throughout the pandemic highlights the value that these accountants bring to organisations.

ICAEW’s commitment to the integrity of the accountancy profession is exemplified by the high calibre of ACA chartered accountants who work for the biggest brands, governments, and high street retailers, both in the UK and internationally. The ICAEW members undisputedly add value to a huge array of finance teams where in fact, 77 of FTSE 100 companies have an ICAEW Chartered Accountant on their board (as of December 2019) and 96 of the world’s 100 global leading brands employ one of our members (includes parent companies, December 2019).

As one of the leading and most highly regarded financial membership organisations in the world with 154,000 members spanning across 148 countries, the ACA qualification prevails to be one of the most internationally recognised and reputable qualifications for finance professionals around the globe. The professional development of their members is of paramount importance to ICAEW, along with maintaining the global recognition of their 138 year old ACA qualification.
