Alan Walker - Head Judge

Alan has over 15 years of experience in Talent, Recruitment and HR – mostly in leadership roles. He has led businesses providing people services, and built, ran and improved internal Recruitment, Talent and HR teams for a range of organisations – from startups through to FTSE100 listed companies. He is able to support Talent leaders and recognise areas for improvement, identify suitable solutions, build business cases and ensure high levels of adoption.
Alan has sat through nearly 300 different HR technology showcases and demos over the last 2 years. As well as demonstrating his dedication to the cause, this has given him an unparalleled awareness of the capabilities of HR technology. He also supports technology entrepreneurs with everything from their product roadmap and raising awareness of their solution, through to go-to-market strategy and fund raising – and most of the stuff in between.

Adrian Wightman

Resourcing Lead, Severn Trent

Adrian has a number years of operational recruitment experience across both in-house and agency and is currently the Resourcing Lead for Severn Trent Water, responsible for the recruitment of all experienced hires across the Severn Trent organisation. Adrian is an Advisory Board Member of the Good Recruitment Campaign at the Recruitment and Employment Confederation. In 2015, Adrian won the recruitment manager of the year award.
Previous recruitment roles include; the Head of Resourcing at Npower, Divisional Manager at Encore Senior Appointments and Michael Page. Adrian was also a senior manager in the retail and logistics industry.

Andrea Marston

Director, Talent Acquisition EMEA, VMware

Andrea has been in talent acquisition for 20 years, from volume recruitment agencies and executive search, to running her own business. 10 years ago, she moved into in-house recruitment, setting up or leading TA functions at various tech firms including Workday, Verizon Media, Huddle and Oracle. She currently heads up recruitment at VMware for EMEA. She is immensely passionate about the evolution of TA into a more business-centric function, and loves intelligent new tech.

Becky Pulley

Employer Brand Manager, Adevinta

Becky’s been in recruitment for over 12 years, with most of that time spent in house, and the last 6 years focused on recruitment marketing and employer brand. She’s worked at some well-known UK brands and has now taken on the challenge of growing Adevinta’s Employer Brand from the ground up. Becky’s focus is always on being authentic and honest, pushing the employer brand (and the companies she works for!) to open up and let candidates decide for themselves if it’s the right place for them.

Paul Thornton

Head of Talent Acquisition, Kier Group

Paul has nearly 20 year’s experience within in-house recruitment having worked across the private, public and third sectors. Paul is the Head of Talent Acquisition at Kier following a recent move from Anglian Water where he lead the transformation of the recruitment function and helped them to win Glassdoor’s Best Place To Work 2019 award.
Paul is passionate about recruitment transformation and has helped to transform the Talent Acquisition function across different companies from high agency reliance to a more truly centralised, cost-effective in-house function.

Rebecca Martin-Cortez

Rebecca has a background in Generalist HR but decided to specialise in Resourcing and has never looked back!

Fernanda Pellegrini

Global Director – Talent Acquisition, K2 Partnering Solutions

Fernanda heads up the Global Talent Acquisition function at K2 Partnering Solutions. She draws on inspiration from over 12 years of recruitment experience and is responsible for creating and delivering a comprehensive sourcing and recruitment strategy and leading employment branding initiatives.
Fernanda believes that putting the candidate at the center of the process overcomes cultural & business barriers and beats having the best recruitment technology. For the past 2 years, she’s been leading a diverse internal recruitment team that seamlessly integrate “filling roles” with the strategic goals of the company and the individual goals of each candidate.

Gary Manning

Head of People, Touch Surgery

Gary leads the People Team at Touch Surgery – a global medtech start up based in London. Previously he spent nearly 6 years at mobile gaming company, King, when there were only 300 people; working with a team to scale to over 2000 people across the world. He’s been a judge at the In-house Recruitment Awards since 2012, but we’re not sure if he loves helping us or he just hasn’t got the heart to tell us no.

Jacob Kimber

Head of Talent Acquisition, Product Madness

Jacob heads up the Talent Acquisition function at Product Madness, a social gaming company. He previously managed recruitment for Mediatonic and Studio Gobo, both games studios. Before that, he managed international recruitment for Blackboard and Epsilon. Previous winner of both the FIRM and IHRA awards for best in-house recruiter and an active member of the UK TA community.

Jamie White

Talent Acquisition Business Partner, OMD UK

Jamie has 11 years’ experience within the recruitment sector and moved into in-house recruitment in 2011. As Head of Resourcing at Dennis Publishing, Jamie developed and grew the In-house resourcing team from scratch over the best part of 4 years. He is now Talent Acquisition Business Partner at OMD UK in London.
Jamie has direct experience of changing a heavily recruitment agency reliant business to one that embraced an in-house model. Jamie is hugely passionate about direct resourcing, creative candidate attraction, recruitment technology and wider employer branding.
Having been shortlisted in the IHRA previously Jamie knows what it takes to bring together an outstanding application and is looking forward to seeing the work that other In-House teams are achieving in 2017.

Charlotte Johns

Talent Acquisition Programme Lead, Wellcome Trust

Charlotte Johns has over 20 years of talent acquisition experience across multiple sectors. She has been Head of TA for organisations including Transport for London, Legal and General, Navigant Consulting and recently was Head of People at the Chemistry Group.
Charlotte has developed her skills consulting on all things ‘people and talent’ in travel, retail, financial services and the charity sector. Charlotte is passionate about inclusion and considers this an integral part of all she does and believes that it should never be an afterthought.
Currently Charlotte is working at the Wellcome Trust on a programme of projects across Talent Acquisition, People and Policy. Charlotte lives in central London with her miniature dachshund Nova and loves travelling and theatre (not at the moment!!) and drinking wine (too much at the moment!!).

Jessica May Hayes

Jessica is a person and likes to think she is good enough to do it professionally. So that’s what Jessica does. Jessica is a hands-on Chief People Officer. Jessica finds her joy in diverse, kind, and world-changing companies of excellent people, which is why Jessica is at Whereby, where their mission is to give people freedom to live and work where they thrive. (How fantastic is that?)
Jessica is a regular panellist and speaker: Presenting at local and international events on how to positively influence culture, strategise a modern People function, improve your employer brand, advocate for a human experience, and generally how think about People Ops as a product.

Rob Fox

Rob has over 15 years’ experience in the recruitment, TA & Talent space. His background has specifically focussed on recruitment change management projects, operational management & building robust and scalable processes. Strong knowledge of successful delivery in developing best practice for attracting, sourcing, assessing, selection of candidates and talent development with the business needs & brand at the forefront. Leading teams within recruitment, HR & the wider business to drive significant improvements with the candidate experience at the forefront. He has worked in a variety of industries including: Telecoms, Tech, Gaming & Gambling, Leisure and FMCG.

Vivienne Pearsons

Talent Acquisition Specialist EMEA, TBA Group

A previous IHR winner and shortlisted nominee, Vivienne heads up talent acquisition for both Konecranes Demag UK & IE and TBA Group. Having been in TA & recruitment for nearly 14 years, she draws upon her agency, RPO and in-house experiences to deliver an effective, meaningful and enjoyable experience for candidates, managers and recruiters alike. Vivienne is passionate about making TA the lynchpin of any company – it’s the foundation of making a business great and an employer of choice, and together has a reputation for utilising a 100% direct-sourcing model across a variety of industries.

Katherine Pinner

Head of Talent Acquisition, Unilever

Katherine has 15 years of resourcing experience and currently leads Talent Acquisition for Unilever in the UK. Previously she built her career at Virgin Atlantic, Transport for London, Legal & General, – but it’s not all big corporates as she started life in start-up world. Her speciality is transforming functions from transactional recruiting to high-performing and highly engaged talent experts. Katherine is extremely passionate about equity, diversity & inclusion and is currently taking a leading role on Unilever’s Race and Disability Equity Programmes.
