A Global Onboarding Transformation – Built to Wow and Delight New Hires

In a recent interview, IHR’s Natasha Preocanin sat down, virtually, with Suzanne Defache, GE Healthcare, and Noel Thomas, Eli Onboarding to discuss how GE Healthcare has dramatically improved employee engagement through their digital transformation, in a time where many other companies have struggled to maintain authentic contact with their employees.

Eli Onboarding, the leading experience-led onboarding technology, has worked with a number of organisations over the years, not least GE Healthcare (GEHC), on the implementation of their global onboarding platform. Prior to implementation, GE had a “compliance only” approach, varying greatly across countries and regions leaving candidates and employees disengaged and in need of some improvements.

Fast-forward eighteen months and the engagement story is very different; Suzanne and her global project team, along with Eli, built the platform with their people at front-and-centre with the vision to “wow and delight” new hires. This resulted in some incredibly impressive engagement figures of over 80% with feedback close to a perfect five out of five. Close to the time of launch, the entire workforce started the transition to work from home, as a result of the pandemic so these touchpoints for employees, and new hires became an important line of communication.

The GEHC onboarding experience has successfully delivered a structured, robust, and consistent experience for new talent and their people leaders, no matter where they are based in the world, what their background is, or where their GEHC career is beginning.

Natasha, Suzanne and Noel discussed some key focus areas for organisations when looking at redesigning an employee-led onboarding experience that will truly engage, wow and delight your new hires, along with some key learnings and stories of success.
